The six-foot Venetian quarterstaff consists of three parts, the main shaft, the headpiece (finial), and the butt (ferrule.) The shaft is cast from Inamnesium, a sapphire blue alloy streaked through with veins of a lighter azure. The butt of the staff is usually capped with a simple, dark metal ferrule, though decorative ferrules aren't uncommon. Atop the head of the shaft is the finial, an iridescent, jade-green circlet of rough-hewn crystal known as Primathyst.
The finial is an ornate headpiece, intricately crafted by the owner during the early years of novitiate life, and acts as a psionic focus (30 PP). Depleted psionic energy, equal to a PSI check, can be restored through 30 minutes of meditation once per day. There are as many variations in finials as there are Venetians carrying Kithi Staves. And though each is often a true work of art it still retains the blunt form of its true function: martial combat.
