When Megadyne Corporation collapsed, a new company, Megabreak (which has some of the same owners) got the patent on the older, failed Y12 Bio Prototype and turned it into a weapon with practical use. Unfortunately, for legal reasons, they could not sell it to police forces as originally planned, and they found that their main customer base were assassins.
