An earlier weapon used by Union marines, these rifles were retired due to their unreliability. Antimatter rifles are a little crude, but there's no denying their destructive potential. The antimatter is suspended in a magnetic field; one weakness of the weapon is that if it can be deprived of power (or, indeed, badly damaged), the field fails and the antimatter reacts with the surrounding matter, causing a large explosion which does 3d6 damage in a 15' radus burst (destroying the weapon, of course).
The inherent danger of using an antimatter weapon makes this rifle popular with thugs and wannabes.
